Classical Charity Concert

11th and 12th August 2021, 7.30pm, Ely Cathedral

Encompass Network and Ely Cathedral, with sponsorship from Charles Tyrwhitt Shirts, are proud to present this charity concert showcasing world class musicians with a range of classical works plus two premieres. Works include Rachmaninov, Vivaldi, Reger and compositions by Yury Revich and Sebastian Thomas. The concert will also be live streamed online for those who can’t be there in person.

This event will also include the presentation of the Davison Young Musicians Award, with the winning musician performing a piece of their choice.

Tickets for the online live stream are £10 and those for attendance in the cathedral are £20, £25 or £30 depending on seating section. All can be purchased online from Ely Cathedral.

The Davison Young Musicians Award is open to students from secondary schools, 6th form colleges and universities within a 100 mile radius of Cambridge. It was founded by Tom W Davison BA DipFS and Peter Davison, who both believe in the great importance of access to musical education, with the patronage of Commodore Duncan Lustig-Prean. The winner will be selected by maestros Yury Revich and Tamas Palfalvi. In addition, contestants who are considering a career in opera or musical theatre will have the opportunity to receive advice and support from music mentor and opera director Paul Curran. The winner will receive a prize of £1000.

International Violin Soloist, Composer and Unicef Partner

Yury Revich is a renowned Austrian violinist from Russian descent and won the famous KLASSIK ECHO award as Young Artist in 2016 as well as the Young Artist of the Year by the ICMA (International Classical Music Awards) in 2015.

Tamás Pálfalvi

International Trumpet Soloist

Tamás Pálfalvi stands out as one of the most visionary and innovative trumpet players of today. Performer, recording artist and Trumpet Teacher.

Sebastian Thomas

Choral Music Scholar & Composer
Sebastian currently holds the post of Academical Clerk to the Christ Church Cathedral Choir. 
He has amassed a sizeable media following where he shares his works as well as other musical content. Previous compositions include “Songs of the Home Front” and Rhapsodie Russe. 

Felix Kirkby

Organ & Piano Music Scholar
Felix also studies at Christ Church Oxford.  Organ scholar, pianist, and composer, Felix has competed in (and won) several national piano competitions. His compositions have been premiered by Norwich Cathedral Choir and commissioned by the Leeds Festival Chorus. He is currently preparing a piano concerto for a Proms programme. Felix has a substantial social media following.
