Trans and non-binary meetup

October 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

A “coffee”/social group open to anyone who identifies as transgender, non-binary, intersex or questioning. We’re going for one more park meetup as the weather gets colder, so make sure you bring a coat as well as something to sit on!
This meet is co-hosted by Cambridge SU LGBT+ to include both the “town” and “gown” communities. If you want to chat about the meeting beforehand send Cici Carey-Stuart a message 🙂

We meet – in person!! Come and find us at the entrance to Stourbridge Common at the north end of Riverside. I will be wearing my very large genderqueer pride flag (green, white, purple!) to help you find me.

Andrew from Healthwatch in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough will be coming along for the first 10 minutes or so to tell us how we can all share our experiences of health and social care and help improve services for other LGBTQ+ folks. If you’d prefer not to meet Andrew, you are welcome to come at 3.15. We will be seated near the meeting point, under a tree, and the green/white/purple flag will still be visible in the group.

Please bring a mask, hand sanitiser and a pen to sign in with – as we will be outside wearing a mask is up to you, but in case we have to shelter from rain under a tree it would be good to be prepared. Also, bring something to eat/drink! There is a takeaway drinks van near the Technology Museum usually, but can’t guarantee it will be there. There are some benches but probably not enough, so bring something to sit on as well. Please continue to practise social distancing and keep two metres apart from everyone, even after recent rules relaxing.
I will have a sign-in sheet for everyone to use, so that if anyone lets me know that they tested positive for COVID I can let everyone who attended know to self-isolate and get tested. Please sanitise your hands regularly, and keep 2 metres apart from each other.
Access statement:
Stourbridge Common is a nature reserve. There are paved paths throughout, between grassy areas with trees for share. To access the Common, there are gates or cattle grids to allow wheelchair access. There are some benches for seating, but we can’t guarantee they will be available. There is on-street parking on Riverside. The nearest public toilets, including accessible toilets, are in Tesco. The nearest bus stop is “Stanley Road”, near Tesco – on the Citi 3, Newmarket Park & Ride, 11, X11, and 12 routes.
