LGBT+ Hate Crime Awareness Week Network Meeting
October 20, 2017 @ 12:00 am - 2:00 pm
During National Hate Crime Awareness Week, Encompass Network are hosting a LGBT+ Hate Crime Awareness network event.
In the 2014 LGBT Needs Assessment, 40% of respondents had experienced some form of homo/bi/ transphobia or hate crime in Cambridge City and South Cambs. 89% of people did not report these incidents.
• What can we do to tackle the barriers to reporting hate crime?
• What can we do to raise awareness of how to report hate crime and tell people about the services that can support them?
• What can we do to help organisations be safer spaces for LGBT+ people?
At this networking event, we will be talking about these issues, sharing our experiences and connecting with people who can make change.
The event will open with a speech by Charles Kitchen, Director of Communications from the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
Both Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the Victims Hub will be talking about their work.
Parking is available at the nearby Queen Anne Terrace multi-story carpark. Refreshments will be provided.
