2021 LGBTQ+ Community Survey

Encompass network / 2021 LGBTQ+ Community Survey

Launching the 2021 LGBTQ+ community survey for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough!

This survey aims to find out about the needs and experiences of local LGBTQ+ residents. The results will let us at Encompass Network know what we need to be doing to best support you. The results will also inform policy and service developments by Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council, who are generously supporting this as part of the 2021 LGBTQ+ Needs Assessment for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

About the survey

This survey is aimed at people who identify as LGBTQ+ and live in Cambridgeshire or Peterborough, or have a significant connection to the area. The survey will take 15-30 minutes to complete, depending on how much you would like to share.
This survey aims to find out about the needs and experiences of the LGBTQ+ community of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. We define LGBTQ+ as including lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer people and those with other marginalised genders and orientations.
This survey was developed by Encompass Network with support from Cambridgeshire County Council, Cambridge City Council and South Cambridgeshire District Council.

All questions are optional. You can leave the survey at any time, and your responses will not be included. Your responses will only be saved once you click the “submit” button on the final page.
Under the ‘Wellbeing’ and ‘Safety’ sections of the survey there are questions about discrimination, homo/bi/transphobia and hate crime; and questions on domestic abuse and sexual violence. If you do not wish to read or complete these questions, you can skip them.

How will your results be used?
The results of this survey will inform the development of services for LGBTQ+ communities in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, to improve LGBTQ+ inclusion in local council services, and to structure the ongoing work of Encompass Network. A report will be available publicly on our website. All information will be anonymised, and Encompass will keep confidential any more detailed statistics that could identify people.

How will your data be protected?
The survey is completely anonymous and all questions are optional. All personal responses to the survey will be kept confidential and stored in compliance with data protection regulations. When presenting the results from the survey, we will only use statistics to discuss groups of respondents, and no answers will be able to be linked to specific people. If you choose to write in the free text boxes, we may use your responses, but we will remove any details that might identify you.

Help and support
Some of the questions in this survey may bring up uncomfortable feelings or memories – if they do, please stop and take care of yourself. There is a lot of support available: we’re keeping an up-to-date online support page with a full list of local and national support resources.
